Sugar Smuggling
What I said about sugar, I said we had some moonshine activity. Mrs. Perkins, [owner of the] grocery store I worked at… a man would come in late on a Saturday night, just about closing time, in the back room and wheeled out a hundred pound bags of sugar in his truck to take out. This was the only person who needed that much, and that was wrong, because it was rationed and I don’t know how the owner was compensated for it.
